Pelosi appeals for China's help on climate change
By AUDRA ANG – 10 hours ago

BEIJING (AP) — U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged Beijing on Thursday to cooperate on climate change, calling a safe environment a basic human right.

Speaking at Beijing's elite Tsinghua University, Pelosi continued the theme of her five-day China trip — that combating global warming represented a new challenge that both governments must tackle jointly.

"We are all in this together," Pelosi told an audience of about 200 students and faculty who applauded enthusiastically throughout the 45-minute session. "The impact of climate change is a tremendous risk to the security and well-being of our countries."

Pelosi's trip has been notable for skirting human rights and the fierce public criticisms she has frequently leveled at the authoritarian government.

The trip comes as President Barack Obama's administration has emphasized climate change as a new area where the two governments can broaden already wide-ranging engagement. The two countries are the biggest emitters of the carbon gases that are causing warming temperatures. Both governments are staking out positions ahead of a meeting late this year in Copenhagen that will try to forge agreement on targets and steps to reduce carbon emissions.

In a meeting Wednesday, the head of China's national legislature, Wu Bangguo, told Pelosi that climate change was a common challenge and that Beijing stood ready to work with Washington.

Turning around her usual criticisms about human rights, Pelosi linked global warming to environmental justice, saying the right to a clean environment is also a human right.

"I do see this opportunity for climate change to be ... a game-changer," she said at Tsinghua. "It's a place where human rights — looking out for the needs of the poor in terms of climate change and healthy environment — are a human right."

To achieve this, Pelosi said governments would have to make decisions and choices based on science.

"They also have to do it with openness, transparency and accountability to the people," she said. "Everyone has to have their situation improved by it."

In answering a question from a student about how Pelosi was going to get Americans to cut back on their carbon emissions, the leading Democratic lawmaker said it was important to educate children on how to conserve energy and for citizens to build more environmentally friendly homes.

"We have so much room for improvement," she said. "Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory ... of how we are taking responsibility."

Pelosi, who arrived Sunday, brought with her five members of a House committee on energy policy and global warming. A bill that would impose the first U.S. limits on greenhouse gas emissions was approved by a House committee last week, a step being considered by the full House later this year.

Pelosi's visit is part of a flurry of contacts between Washington and Beijing that highlight their wide-ranging cooperation on issues including North Korea's nuclear program and combatting the global economic slump.

Next week, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner travels to Beijing.

HEY LABOR UNIONS:TAKE YOUR CARD CHECK AND SHOVE IT ! YOU SCUMBAGS !

The labor movement is taking aim at Wall Street with a new tool in its fight to pass the Employee Free Choice Act.

Labor pushes Wall St. on card check

The labor movement is taking square aim at Wall Street with a new tool in its fight to pass the Employee Free Choice Act: the hundreds of billions of dollars in pension funds it manages for union workers and retirees, some of it held by the same firms that are fighting the provision known as "card check."

"Has your company made any public statements in support or opposition to EFCA?" asks one of nine pointed questions in a polite, detailed four-page questionnaire.

"If 'Yes,' please explain."

The detailed questionnaire has three parts. The first asks about fund managers' public positions, lobbying and political contributions. The second asks managers to "disclose any relationships during the past five years between your company and any organization(s) opposing the passage" of EFCA. The form lists 14 organizations, from anti-EFCA organizations like the Workforce Fairness Institute to trade groups that oppose it, like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Roundtable.

A third passage asked whether other any trade association to which the fund managers belong has taken a position on the bill.

While the survey assures managers that it doesn't intend to impose "requirements or limitations" on their political activity, a cover letter from Teamsters union leaders tells another story: The leaders are concerned, according to a copy of the local's letter obtained by POLITICO, that Wall Street is "undermining the interests" of union retirees.

The letter, from the two top officials of Teamsters Local 507 in Cleveland, Albert Mixon and Carl Pecoraro, who are also trustees of the union's health, welfare and pension funds, says some pension fund managers "are undermining the interests" of the union:

Munroe said the letter from Cleveland Teamsters leaders that POLITICO obtained was part of an effort spanning the entire Change to Win federation, which includes SEIU and five other major unions. (A Change to Win spokeswoman didn't respond to questions about the campaign.)

Another labor official said the AFL-CIO, the largest labor federation, is set to ask its own pointed questions of money managers soon.

Munroe said the survey was inspired by the decision by the Financial Services Roundtable, a leading industry group, to lobby against the Free Choice Act. Another section of the questionnaire asks companies if they have any ties to a set of trade organizations and advocacy groups, including the Roundtable.

"We're happy to openly debate the merits of any issue," said a top lobbyist for the Roundtable, Scott Talbott. "What's not up for debate is our Constitutional right to petition our government.

The EFCA, which has so far failed to find the 60 votes it needs to clear cloture in the Senate, would allow unions to recruit workers by signing cards as an alternative to voting with a secret ballot. The bill could also force employers into binding arbitration in contract negotiations.

"In the coming weeks, we will be rolling out initiatives from shareholders, investment groups and businesses in support of the Employee Free Choice Act," said AFL spokesman Eddie Vale, who declined to discuss targeting Wall Street. "This issue isn't just about workers; it's about fixing our economy and growing the middle class."

Financial industry officials took a darker view of the survey. "The fact that union bosses would try and shake down financial institutions by asking that they disclose information" about the bill "is beyond outrageous," said an aide to one trade organization, who – like other industry officials rattled by the letters – refused to speak on the record. He also called it "troubling that Big Labor would use their pension plans as the bargaining chip."

Unions and other large institutions, like universities, have long selectively used board seats and investment positions to advance causes from shareholder rights to democracy in South Africa and human rights in Sudan. Less common is for the institutions to target the behavior of their own money managers.

So far, it's not clear than any of the unions have pulled their pension funds from firms supporting EFCA, or are close to doing so. But it's also clear the threat -- implied but not made explicit in the letters -- has gotten the attention of the firms, who fear that's the next step. So far, there's no sign of firms backing out of the card-check fight because of the survey.

Labor backers have nonetheless cheered the new tactic in the no-holds-barred fight for EFCA.

"It's entirely appropriate for the labor movement to say, basically, 'Look, if you are working to kill our No. 1 legislative priority, we're not going to help you make a buck by profiting from our investments, investments that come from the hard-earned money of union members,'" said Jonathan Tasini, the executive director of the pro-union Labor Research Association.

Wheeee ....what do you think about me now. I am all dressed up like a big girl. I have had so much botox that I don't look to bad today as a 70 year old brain dead idiot, Now do I ?

Nancy Pelosi the "LIAR" that accused the CIA of being Liars, and will not retrack what she said has snuck off to China to drum up support for the CAP AND TRADE TAX BILL and she took John Scarry Kerry with her among others. She will be trying to get them to sign on to charging their folks more money for these services so Americans want feel as though they are having to pay while no other countries sign on to Al Gores BullShit ! She knows it is going to be a hard sell and as it is right now the house and the senate are not on board with the bill. Lets hope and pray they stay that way.
IT WILL COST ALL AMERICANS MONEY OUT THE YING YANG FOR ALL ENERGY THEY USE, WHETHER IT BE ELECTRICITY, GAS FOR YOUR CAR, HEATING OIL, ETC.ETC.
Every time you use "anything", buy anything, it will cost you a lot more. Every single company that uses energy of any kind what so ever will have to pay more for that energy. The cost will be passed on to the consumer. What a sad time for AMERICA right now with all these socilaist/communist running this country. I hope we can survive for 4 years.

The many nasty pictures of NANCY,a terribly disturbed women that drank too much of the Kool aid.

Speaker Pelosi visits China; protesters seek help

Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, meets with Han Zheng, Shanghai's mayor, unseen, in Shanghai, China, on Monday, May 25, 2009. U.S. House Speaker Pelosi, long a fierce critic of Beijing, toured China's financial center of Shanghai on Monday on a visit meant to highlight common goals in promoting clean energy to fight climate change.

SHANGHAI (AP) - U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, long a fierce critic of Beijing, toured China's financial capital on Monday on a visit focused on environmental issues rather than human rights, though her presence emboldened protesters.
Pelosi took a low-key approach as she prepared for meetings in Beijing just days ahead of the 20th anniversary of the 1989 crackdown on the Tiananmen Square democracy protests.

The apparent shift approach dovetails with President Barack Obama's new emphasis on engagement with Beijing, rather than confrontation over its human rights record. Visits by Pelosi and other senior U.S. figures have been aimed at highlighting cooperation between the two countries on a slew of issues.

Still, the leading Democratic lawmaker's reputation as a strong human rights defender galvanized petitioners in Beijing, where several hundreds gathered Monday morning near the capital's South Railway Station to air their grievances. Dozens of police stood guard and most protesters were kept behind police lines.

While many complaints were about individual cases, photos posted on the Chinese-language Web site Boxun.com, a U.S.-hosted Web site banned in China, showed one group of demonstrators holding up a black-and-white cloth banner that said: "Welcome Pelosi. Pay close attention to human rights. SOS."

Speaking to U.S. business figures Monday in Shanghai, Pelosi noted her commitment to human rights issues over the years.

During a 1991 visit to Beijing, the Democrat from California unfurled a banner that read "To those who died for democracy in China" in the square. Years later, she attempted to present human rights petitions to then-visiting President Hu Jintao. When Tibetans staged protests against Chinese rule last year, Pelosi visited their exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.

"I will continue to speak out for human rights in China and around the world," Pelosi told members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

"Indeed, protecting the environment is a human rights issue," she said according to a copy of the speech distributed to journalists. "We hope to send a clear message that transparency, accountability, enforcement, and respect for the rule of law are essential if we are to protect our planet," she added.

Pelosi did castigate North Korea after Pyongyang announced that it had successfully carried out an underground nuclear test, weeks after threatening to restart its rogue atomic program.

"If today's announcement is true, these tests would be a clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1718, which requires that North Korea not conduct any further nuclear tests. Such action by North Korea is unacceptable and cause for great alarm," Pelosi said in a written statement.

Pelosi said she and other members of her delegation planned to urge Chinese leaders to use their influence to get the North to return to six-nation talks aimed at ending its nuclear program.

The lawmaker arrived over the weekend accompanied by a delegation of four Democrats and one Republican, all members of the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. The main focus of their visit is the shared goal of promoting clean energy and combatting climate change.

Pelosi met Monday with Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng. The two exchanged pleasantries but made no substantive remarks before reporters. The delegation will later meet in Beijing with Hu and other leaders.

U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman and Democrat Sen. John Kerry is also in China, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will arrive next week. He is expected to reassure Beijing about the strength of the U.S. dollar and thus the value of China's vast holdings of U.S. Treasury notes.

JUST "SAY NO" TO AL GORE THE CRAZY MAN !

COME ON AL, BLOW OUT ALL THAT HOT AIR YOU KEEP PREACHING ABOUT.

AL GORE IS HATED BY SO MANY AND IT REALLY SHOWS. Before you even read the article below, look at all these comments about him. LOL
I hope all the world will turn their back on this loser ! He has certainly earned it. HYPOCRITE!

Posted by callmeneocon on 05/25/09 at 8:08AM
Didn't Al Gore's family make their money from strip mining operations?

I'm not joking.

Posted by ynot4tony2 on 05/25/09 at 9:57AM
When is the media going to stop being the mouthpiece of Al Gore's propaganda? When will they stop taking him seriously?

Gore's award-winning movie was found to be full of inaccuracies and lies (for instance, CO2 increases AFTER a rise in temperature, not the other way around).

Gore and company took a fleet of limos a couple blocks to get an award for his environmental propaganda movie.

Gore demands to speak before the U.S. Senate, but refuses to take questions from Senators who might disagree wit him (this is called "intellectual cowardice", or if you're a liberal, it's called, "I'm right, damnit!").

Gore's home burns 12 times as much energy as an average home. It is a model of excess and waste (George Bush, on the other hand, had a home built that is a model of environmental stewardship).

In spite of his continued record as a hypocrite and a fraud, the media keep putting Gore on a pedestal. So what if he won a Nobel Peace Prize...so did Yasser Arafat.

Posted by matador527 on 05/25/09 at 10:01AM
Give it up, Algore! Nobody cares about a phoney issue, and, as more and more evidence comes in that proves that you're lying for profit, you're becoming more and more of a joke...albiet not a very funny one.

Posted by adm426 on 05/25/09 at 10:05AM
Can you believe this guy was almost President? He ought to be arrested and sued for trying to perpetuate the biggest fraud on mankind. There is NO global warming. The earth is cooling. CO2 emissions are readily absorbed by plants for oxygen. Earth IS a great natural recycler. That is the TRUTH! Al Gore will not debate scientists who disagree, or anyone, for that matter because he would be exposed for what he is for all to see. He is invested in companies that will produce the green products we will be forced to buy. (Like he needs MORE money.) He does not live a green lifestyle. He craves attention. His family continues to make money in big oil and other investments that he says he is against. He is desperate to see this legislation passed this year because next year is an election cycle and Cap & Trade would have even less of a chance of getting passed. Al Gore is the ultimate hypocrite! In fact, the Dems don't believe in climate change any more than I do. They just want the billions in revenue from the sale of permits and the ability to further control the population. Even Queen Nancy said we need Cap & Trade because "We need the revenue". That says it all for me.

Environmentalism and the global warming alarmism is challenging our freedom. Al Gore is a Major Problem in this movement."Environmentalism and the global warming alarmism is challenging our freedom".I'm afraid that the current crisis will be misused for radically constraining the functioning of the markets and market economy all around the world," Stop Al Gore and all his freaks who are out to destroy America. Tell your teachers to teach Math and not waste your tax dollars on brain washing your children on Global Warming.

Posted by karl1h1 on 05/25/09 at 10:25AM
"the single largest source of new electricity generation in America has been wind," said Gore.

Maybe, and most of the wind has come from his mouth. I have a feeling he has to go on tours and stay away from home. If he doesn't then Tipper just might introduce him to another needed change "divorce".

Just another failed politician out to sell some snake oil, at least Bob Dole just tried to sell viagra, and Clinton has accepted the she is unelectable.

Posted by thengdi on 05/25/09 at 10:36AM
Al Gore has come up with a pack of lies and is milking his publicity for all it is worth. The scientific community, especially the science journals are busy milking too as they are mum on the key aspects which debunk the global warming theory. Why did the temperature of the earth rise during 1940 and 1970 and started falling after that? Please explain.
Does warming have any effect on the 70 percent of earth's surface which is water? It will result in more clouds because of heat which will result in rain and cool the earth, but the reverse is true too. There will be fewer clouds because of intense heat! Which is happening or will happen if the temperature rises further? Nobody knows.
Press and Science Journals, please shut out Al Gore. When the global warming theroy has finally been proven wrong, he may not be around. But he has already milked the lies for all their worth. Stop this from happening!

Posted by cjp314 on 05/25/09 at 10:56AM
It is beyond my comprehension why people continue to vote for the democratic party. Look at what people like Gore are doing. Look at what slime balls Bill and Hillary are. Look at this guy Murtha, and Blago, and Rham and Durbin, and Kennedy, and Mr. KKK Robert Byrd. Say what you will about Bush and Cheney but they are nothing by comparrison to the creeps that get elected by those that follow the democrat path. And now we have the new man in DC that is nationalizing, socializing and is a proponant of the whack jobs that believe in this global warming nonsense. And by the way, note that the people that are pushing for cap and trade are all from California. They couldn't care less about what goes on in Ohio or the rust belt. Kill the coal industry. No more nuclear power plants, no offshore drilling. What is wrong with people that they continue to give these creeps the power to destroy the basis of freedom in this country.

Posted by bitofthought on 05/25/09 at 11:01AM
I think Al Gore is falling behind on his payments for that great energy wasting mansion of his and he needs some income.

Posted by peanut1000 on 05/25/09 at 11:33AM
When Al Gore does more than do as I say and not as I do, I might pay attention. In otherwords, Al Gore needs to park his private jet and drive only a putt-putt car that gets 60 miles to the gallon. He also must turn the power off in his mega mansions and only use solar or wind power to take care of all his electric needs. To do anything less is hypocritical. Just another political elite stealing the tax money of the real working people for his own benefit and the benefit of this money hungry friends.

Posted by lsnapoli123 on 05/25/09 at 11:35AM
Al Gore is a buffoon, a fraud and one of the most irresponsible ever to hold public office.

Posted by greenman9 on 05/25/09 at 11:42AM
If Agore doesn't get his agenda in place very soon, people will realize that the earth is COOLING, not warming. Nobody will give this fool the time of day after that.

Posted by proteus48084 on 05/25/09 at 11:46AM
Al (Living Large) Gore's global warming is simply a money grab to enrich himself and his buddies within the Democratic Party.

Following through on what he has to say will merely cause the massive transfer of financial resources to useless ends (not to mention that he and his ilk will get in the way of some of this money).

I'll believe that global warming is real when I see Gore, Waxman, Markley and Pelosi (among others) behind the wheel of a Prius and flying on a commercial airline on a daily basis.

Posted by frankinphx on 05/25/09 at 11:48AM
This despicable creep will eventually get his way and there's nothing anybody can do about it. The time to stop this moron was back in 1992 when the idiotic American public decided to elect a sleazeball as their leader and we're still, to this day, paying that price. This is just one more example. Now, they've gone and done it again, with all their brilliance and elected the most unqualified candidate they can find who is now saddling the nation with staggering debt and socialist programs that will most likely bankrupt the nation. Congratulations America! You deserve what you're getting for being so stupid.

Posted by tommyrichard on 05/25/09 at 11:51AM
Gore is a blithering idiot who preys upon the ignorant and uneducated. His only path to success is through the force of government; clearly not the free market. Gore and his fellow Marxists including many voters, congressmen and lobbyists, could not make a dime peddling his phony `global warming’ in the free market arena. It might work if only his unsubstantiated theories about `global warming’ could be proven correct; but like most mental cases who promote `feel good’ nonsense, they are doomed to failure in the free market unless government compels purchase.

Posted by Yukiko on 05/25/09 at 12:08PM
Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore.... Not a good way to open a story. The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to this man has changed this award from prestigious to insignificant. This man is doing nothing more than prospering on manufactured misery. All the while living a life style of environmental excesses. His motto might as well be: Do as I say, not as I do.

Posted by GoredSilly on 05/25/09 at 12:25PM
OK - I'm 100% with everyone who thinks Gore is an idiot and who thinks that this whole man-made global warming thing is a piece of crap. So, WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT? Congress is getting ready to pass an energy bill that's going to tax people for carbon usage. Are you squawking to congress about it? Making comments on a website is great but without action, we'll all be paying a lot more in the coming years to solve a problem that doesn't exist. And we can all blame blowhard Gore for that but he won't care as he gets richer and richer from promoting global warming.

Posted by anchorbeach on 05/25/09 at 12:40PM
Hey Al Gore shut up already.Your Man Made Global Warming is a hoax and is nothing more than a way for you leftist socialists to overthrow our free society. Cap and Trade? Let's cap the mouths of these politicians and trade them all in for new ones in 2010.
Stand up to these blowhards, they are purposely destroying our country from within. I know Gore is not in office, but there are plenty across the country we need to oust in 2010.
We need cheap energy and we have it domestically everywhere, but are denied for no good reason except to handcuff the American people from attaining our personal prosperity.

Algore will go down in history as "The P.T. Barnham of the 21st Century"

Posted by Coady on 05/25/09 at 1:22PM
In the late 70's and early 80's the "experts" were predicting we were on our way into another Ice-Age and there was even talk of dumping soot on the polar caps to melt some of the ice. Now, 30 years later, we have "global warming" brought to us by that world renowned inventer of the internet Al Gore.
If so-called "greenhouse gases" are causing "global warming" shouldn't there have been a steady increase in temperature since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution? Global Warming is as much a farce as Gore and his limo driving entourage!

Posted by hdame on 05/25/09 at 1:37PM
Not only is AlGorelioni a fraud but the whole rest of the idiotic party he belongs to are unscientific morons. For example, Princess Pelosi scrambled off to China to save the world from Global Warming. Accompanying her was that fearless hero of viet Nam, John Kerrey. The real tragedy is that nearly all of the Media is as ignorant of scientific method as this "Nobel Prize" winner who also invented the Internet and was the model for the movie "Love Story." Wow, what a guy!

Posted by Tampatombo on 05/25/09 at 2:02PM
Perhaps we should waterboard Al Gore to find out how much corruption $'s and side friens/family stock deals he is getting from promoting his FRAUDULENT glomal warming nonsense. Follow the money, it also leads to the source. And for Mr Malgore, it probably leads straight to a fortune extrated from regular American folks who will now have to pay their mobster "shakedown" money recently enacted to the fraulent Energy Bill that Obama and his Democrat National Socialist party friends in Congress are forcing The CAP AND MEGA TAX scheme on hard working, tax paying Americans.

Posted by OsamasPJs on 05/25/09 at 2:05PM

Get Gaseous Al Gore off the world stage. This clown is a global-warming swindler and profiteer. I'm not saying he should be horsewhipped ---- but there's no telling WHAT I might say if we actually had freedom of speech here in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Please go to watts up with that.com and read the article"Renewable Energy-Our Downfall" for the straight proof Al Gore is plumb nuts!

Someone here mentioned the Gore family was or is into strip mining. That may be, but there is ample proof his father Al Sr. was a big initial investor, along with Armand Hammer (the Russian), in Occidental Petroleum Company. My guess is they still have substantial family holdings in this Oil Company.

I would hope everyone goes with me to the next Tea Party to protest this "global warming" bs and offer to take a pitchfork to any congressman voting for it!

Posted by sbarra1 on 05/25/09 at 3:09PM
I don't accept his premise that there is man made global warming. I can call up more scientist to refute his claim then he can bring up to extole it. What we should have is Al Gore give his proof under oath, with the penalty of life imprisonment because the ramifications of this will cost governments into the trillions of dollars and more when you consider lost jobs etc. etc. Better yet lets give this bloated failed politician a trillion dollars and a couple of years to raise the temperature of earth anyway he can.He knows all the reasons why the earth is getting warmer. This should put an end to the question of mans involvement with the rising temps. If he can't do it lets publicly tar and feather him and be finished with the argument. I am sure he will accept either way because he is so sincere and has such genuine concern for the planet,...NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is just a huckster and this is all about him and money, like father like son.

Obama's cap-and-trade is pay back to the environmentalist elite for their votes in the November election. Political corruption pure and simple! Gore will enrich himself, along with his allies Waxman and Pelosi of California is Cap-And-Trade is passed. America will loose its competitiveness and millions of jobs will be lost if cap-and-trade is passed. Based on a MIT study, the cost of this cap in trade legislation will cost he average American houshold over $3300 annually. Instead of DRILLING NOW or tapping into America's extremely cheap natural energy resources like coal, using CLEAN COAL technology, expanding cheap nuclear energy, the elitists want to tax us to death! We get over 70% of our energy in America from coal. Coal technology is now extremely clean and is the cheapest energy source available and best of all, it is ours and it is EXTREMELY plentiful! Then there's the oils reserves that we have right here at home, yet, we are dependent on buying oil from an enemy simply because Al Gore and his elitist friends can continue to enrich themselves! Call your Representatives in this out of control Washington and make your voice be heard! Vote DOWN Cap-and-Trade or we will lose millions more American jobs.

Posted by GlobeSailing on 05/25/09 at 4:05PM
Got to give it to this fraud. Al Gore knows how to make money! First the book - made millions. The movie - made millions, then the carbon footprinte exchange - making him millions as we speak. Now he gets the greatest payoff in his money making scheme through the payback Obama is giving him and his California's left coast wako liberals bedfellows, Waxman and Pelosi through the cap and trade. VOTE DOWN CAP AND TRADE! This bill will kill America's competiveness in the world and millions of American jobs, all the while Al Gore enriches himself and his elitist allies.

Al Gore is a lying fool, lining his pocket with this foolish notion of global warming. Please stop writing stories about him.

Cap and Trade energy taxes are expected to cost the average family between $1,500 and $2000 a year in increased energy costs. That is not including the HUGE negative macro-economic impact Cap and Trade will have on American companies trying to compete with India and China who aren't going to tax the "electrons" out of their "evil" energy producers and consumers.

But just to make things worse, democrats in congress are now handing out cap/trade exemptions to all companies who agree to "play ball", (read: give big campaign donations to democrats in the future).

Stop the insanity now! No Cap and Trade taxes. Demand energy security using an all-of-the-above strategy. More drilling, more nuclear, clean coal, more refineries and investment in future tech - which has not proven to be economical or scale-ready yet.

Don't let the Democrats play with our lives and well being based on the rantings of a fool like Al Gore who doesn't even have the guts to debate his claims in an open forum.

I used to think that Algore is a fool, but I was wrong. He is brilliant! It's his followers who are fools. Global warming is a hoax. It is being used as a tool to advance Socialism and to redistribute wealth from rich to poor nations and from rich to poor individuals in this country. Algore is brilliant because he's selling this crap to us and he stands to make billions from it.

Our current administration consists of some of the biggest fools out there. How big you ask; we're exporting nuclear technology to the UAE (for peaceful purposes, of course) but we say no to nukes at home. Instead, Obama & co. try to tell us that we can solve our energy problems with windmills and solar panels. Those are the real idiots; along with Gore.

Algore needs to be arrested. The freak is a narcissistic sociopath trying to steal more money than has ever been stolen- more than the bills passed since the coronation of the zero!!! Hypocritical vermin traitor slime he is, it should be boiled for the oil it contains.

I don't think many people realize it but Al Gore has probably Never worked in a Real job, he was raised in a Hotel apparently and has benefits so he really doesn't have to work, the Money he gets is probably donated to his former or next campaign or his income from Oil Leases on his Family Property, owned by Armand Hammer, the Occidental Oil Company, I Believe and he may be Related by Marriage to that man's family,
He also, btw has really said only what Other people have said about Oil and Pollution which is not consistent with Science as far as Reality,
Yes, much Pollution goes into the atmosphere, however it is not as bad as he says, nor is it as Sure that he and his SUpporters are Correct.
The Truth is that a Major Cause of Global Warming seems to be the cause, and it has not been verified nor discussed,
The Factor I refer to is called Precession of the Earth's Orbital axis which rotates in a Complete Circle around its precessional axis as does the Rotational Axis of a Gyroscope.
IT will cause the atmosphere to exhibit Global Warming I believe every 13000 Years, and seemingly the Axis is now Tangent or close to Tangent to the Elliptical Orbit of Earth when the Earth is Closest to the Focus of that ellipse where the Sun Is Located,
Normally, although the Earth Receives equal radiation from the SUn at each location on the Elliptical ORbit, at this particular Segment of the Elliptical Orbit, the Warming of the Sun hits the Earth with Equal Warming at the Polar Regions as it Rotates throughout each day, and this gives more long lasting melting of the Polar Regions so that the Polar Regions Melt more Completely during that time the Earth is at that Segment of the Elliptical ORbit and also on the Other side of the Ellipstical Orbit, giving the Greatest Decline of Negative Latent HEat stored at the POles
This results in Probably Milder Prevaiing Winds, Warmer Northern Climes Resulting in Better Farming Results in the More Northern Parts, more work days in the Northern US, Better Fishing in the Eastern Fishing Grounds as the Fish from More Southern Waters have begun to move Northward in the Last several Years, this Information is from Newspaper Reports and from Television Reports.
THis is really good for the US and for the World,
So all is not lost, its a benefit and the SO Called Need for Environmental Technology is a Power and Economic Money Grab for the Media Corporate Holder Corporations and Al Gore is just Helping out the Manufacturers so they can Force Feed you Global Warming Technology and Steal Dollars from you and the Rest of the world,

Who is Al Gore, again?

And why is the Plain Dealer covering anything he says?

From the comments posted herewith, I believe cap and trade may do for Chairman Obama what the assault weapons ban did for Bill Clinton and his backers. If that is the case, then $2,000 per family is a real bargain, don't you agree?

Gore calls on world business leaders to push for climate deal

NEW YORK -- Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore on Sunday urged a gathering of more than 500 business leaders to push for a global agreement on curbing global warming pollution, saying "Mother Nature does not do bailouts."

"The market signals on energy are badly misleading and wrong. We do not take into account the cost of pollution," Gore told the meeting of chief executives from global industry giants, including PepsiCo Inc.

"If there is no cost to be paid for the indiscriminate dumping of pollution into the earth's atmosphere, then it should be a surprise to no one that today we will dump another 70 million tons of global warming pollution into the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet," Gore said.

"But there is good news, because the world's business community is beginning to respond," said Gore, whose address was shown via a live Web cast from the Copenhagen Climate Council's Web site. See site:
www.copenhagenclimatecouncil.com

The three-day World Summit on Climate Change meeting, which began Sunday in Copenhagen, comes in advance of December talks to determine what will replace the Kyoto climate treaty that expires in 2012.

While the United States is far behind Denmark, where nearly one quarter of the energy produced comes from wind, in each of the last two years "the single largest source of new electricity generation in America has been wind," said Gore.

Gore told the gathering it made sense to have the business community gather six months ahead of political leaders, saying "it is critically important that we get the rules of the marketplace correct so we can make decisions both in the political realm and the business realm that will allow us to live our lives in a way in keeping with which we know to be right."

Saying there remained time to act to avoid the direst consequences of global warming, Gore called for rapid action to stem the problem.

"We have to do it this year, not next year. Mother Nature does not do bailouts," the former vice president said.

GOD BLESS DICK CHENEY~Obama is an Idiot~FOOL IN THE WHITE HOUSE

VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY IS RIGHT ! GOD BLESS THIS MAN ALWAYS FOR STICKING TO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR AMERICA !

Obama declared defiantly Thursday that the U.S. "went off course" in fighting terrorism over the past eight years, and said his policies will "better protect" the country against al Qaeda.

In a remarkable split-screen presentation of opposing worldviews, former Vice President Dick Cheney spoke across town moments later, saying he supported the controversial policies "when they were made, and without hesitation would do so again in the same circumstances."

"The point is not to look backward," Vice President Cheney said. "A lot rides on our President’s understanding of the security policies that preceded him. And whatever choices he makes concerning the defense of this country, those choices should not be based on slogans and campaign rhetoric, but on a truthful telling of history."

Obama, in a major address at the National Archives, argued that waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods "did not advance our war and counter-terrorism efforts – they undermined them."

Obama unblinkingly, methodically confronted a string of national-security decisions that have drawn criticism from the political left or right. He called the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay an inherited "mess" that "has weakened American national security" by providing a rallying cry for enemies.

Seeking to defuse one of Republican's most potent arguments, the president added: "Let me begin by disposing of one argument as plainly as I can: we are not going to release anyone if it would endanger our national security, nor will we release detainees within the United States who endanger the American people."

Obama rejected calls for a "truth commission" about the Bush administration's handling of the war on terror, saying he has "no interest in spending our time re-litigating the policies of the last eight years."

"I want to solve these problems, and I want to solve them together as Americans," he said. "In all of the areas that I have discussed today, the policies that I have proposed represent a new direction from the last eight years. ... If we cannot stand for those core values, then we are not keeping faith with the documents that are enshrined in this hall."

"Decisions that were made over the last eight years established an ad hoc legal approach for fighting terrorism that was neither effective nor sustainable – a framework that failed to rely on our legal traditions and time-tested institutions; that failed to use our values as a compass," Obama said. "And that is why I took several steps upon taking office to better protect the American people."

In a stark warning, he said: "We know that al Qaeda is actively planning to attack us again. We know that this threat will be with us for a long time, and that we must use all elements of our power to defeat it."

"I know some have argued that brutal methods like water-boarding were necessary to keep us safe. I could not disagree more," Obama continued. "As commander-in-chief, I see the intelligence, I bear responsibility for keeping this country safe, and I reject the assertion that these are the most effective means of interrogation. What’s more, they undermine the rule of law. They alienate us in the world. They serve as a recruitment tool for terrorists, and increase the will of our enemies to fight us, while decreasing the will of others to work with America. They risk the lives of our troops by making it less likely that others will surrender to them in battle, and more likely that Americans will be mistreated if they are captured. In short, they did not advance our war and counter-terrorism efforts – they undermined them, and that is why I ended them once and for all."

Obama repeated his pledge to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"Rather than keep us safer, the prison at Guantanamo has weakened American national security," Obama said. "It is a rallying cry for our enemies. It sets back the willingness of our allies to work with us in fighting an enemy that operates in scores of countries. By any measure, the costs of keeping it open far exceed the complications involved in closing it. That is why I argued that it should be closed throughout my campaign. And that is why I ordered it closed within one year."

Cheney appeared at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, where the audience watched the president on large TV screens.

"When President Obama makes wise decisions, as I believe he has done in some respects on Afghanistan, and in reversing his plan to release incendiary photos, he deserves our support," Cheney said. "And when he faults or mischaracterizes the national security decisions we made in the Bush years, he deserves an answer."

Cheney continued: “Though I'm not here to speak for President George W. Bush, I am certain that no one wishes the current administration more success in defending the country than we do. ... What I want to do today is set forth the strategic thinking that drove our policies.”

"Watching a coordinated, devastating attack on our country from an underground bunker at the White House can affect how you view your responsibilities," Cheney said. "To make certain our nation country never again faced such a day of horror, we developed a comprehensive strategy.

On the domestic eavesdropping program, Cheney said: "The program was top secret, and for good reason, until the editors of the New York Times got it and put it on the front page. After 9/11, the Times had spent months publishing the pictures and the stories of everyone killed by al-Qaeda on 9/11. Now here was that same newspaper publishing secrets in a way that could only help al-Qaeda. It impressed the Pulitzer committee, but it damn sure didn’t serve the interests of our country, or the safety of our people."

Both Obama and Vice President Cheney rested a good part of their case on effectiveness, with the president saying the last administration’s approach to fighting terror was not effective, and Cheney arguing that those programs are the reason there has been no second Sept. 11

"We uphold our most cherished values not only because doing so is right, but because it strengthens our country and keeps us safe," Obama said. "Time and again, our values have been our best national security asset – in war and peace; in times of ease and in eras of upheaval."

Obama said that while the nation must ensure that its security measures and our justice system are ready to address the threats of the 21st century, the Obama administration will uphold America’s laws and its values that are the reason we have become the strongest nation in the world and persisted through crises that have threatened our core.

Obama said that the paramount responsibility of any president is to keep the American people safe. That is what he thinks about every morning when he wakes up and every night when he goes to sleep. The president believes with every fiber of his being that we cannot keep this country safe unless we enlist the power of our most fundamental values.

Obama referred to the setting, saying that the documents in the National Archives — including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights — "are not simply words written into aging parchment.

"They are the foundation of liberty and justice in this country, and a light that shines for all who seek freedom, fairness, equality and dignity in the world," he said. "I believe with every fiber of my being that in the long run we also cannot keep this country safe unless we enlist the power of our most fundamental values."

Obama said he had tried to "strike the right balance between transparency and national security," including in his decision withhold of an inflammatory series of detainee photos.

"There is a clear and compelling reason to not release these particular photos," he said. "There are nearly 200,000 Americans who are serving in harm’s way, and I have a solemn responsibility for their safety as Commander-in-Chief. Nothing would be gained by the release of these photos that matters more than the lives of our young men and women serving in harm’s way. "

Obama pointed out that he is providing the resources to take the fight to the extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan who attacked us on Sept. 11; investing in the 21st-century military and intelligence capabilities; re-energizing a global nonproliferation regime and locking down loose nuclear material to deny the world’s most dangerous people access to the world’s deadliest weapons; protecting our borders and increasing our preparedness for any future attack or natural disaster; building new partnerships around the world to disrupt, dismantle and defeat Al Qaeda and its affiliates; and renewing American diplomacy.

Referring back to the opening week of his rule, Obama pointed out that he ordered the closing of the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay. For over seven years, the U.S. has detained hundreds of people at Guantanamo. During that time, the system of Military Commissions at Guantanamo succeeded in convicting only three suspected terrorists.

"In dealing with this situation, we do not have the luxury of starting from scratch," he said. "We are cleaning up something that is – quite simply – a mess; a misguided experiment that has left in its wake a flood of legal challenges that my Administration is forced to deal with on a constant basis, and that consumes the time of government officials whose time should be spent on better protecting our country."

Obama contended that the record is clear: Rather than keep Americans safer, the prison at Guantanamo has weakened American national security. Turning to detainees who remain, the president will announce this framework:

--When feasible, try those who have violated American criminal laws in federal courts.

--When necessary, try those who violate the rules of war through Military Commissions.

--When possible, transfer to third countries those detainees who can be safely transferred.

OBAMA, LIKE FATHER LIKE SON~A SOCIALIST AGENDA

Like Father, Like Son

Election '08: Barack Obama's economic blueprint sounds like one his communist father tried to foist on Kenya 40 years ago, with massive taxes and succor shrouded as "investments."

IBD Series: The Audacity Of Socialism

Barack Obama Sr., who died in 1982 at age 46 in a Kenya car crash

As a Nairobi bureaucrat, Barack Hussein Obama Sr. advised the pro-Western Kenyan government there to "redistribute" income through higher taxes. He also demonized corporations and called for massive government "investment" in social programs.

Barack Obama Sr., who died in 1982 at age 46 in a Kenya car crash.
Writing in a 1965 scholarly paper, Obama's late father slammed the administration of then-President Jomo Kenyatta for moving the Third World country away from socialism toward capitalism. He chafed at the idea of relying on private investors — who earn "dividends" on their venture capital — to develop the country's fledgling economy.

"What is more important is to find means by which we can redistribute our economic gains to the benefit of all," said the senior Obama, a Harvard-educated economist. "This is the government's obligation." The "means" he had in mind were confiscatory taxes on a scale that redefines the term "progressive taxation."

"Theoretically," he wrote, "there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed."

Therefore, he added, "I do not see why the government cannot tax those who have more and syphon some of these revenues into savings which can be utilized in investment for future development."

As Obama's father saw it, taxes couldn't be high enough, so long as the collective benefited. "Certainly there is no limit to taxation if the benefits derived from public services by society measure up to the cost in taxation which they have to pay," he said. "It is a fallacy to say that there is this limit, and it is a fallacy to rely mainly on individual free enterprise to get the savings."

His son is also pushing massive taxes and "investments" in social programs — at the expense of free enterprise. Sen. Obama wants to raise the top marginal income-tax rate to at least 39%, while increasing Social Security taxes on those with higher incomes by completely removing the payroll cap. That means many entrepreneurs would be paying 12.4% (6.2% on employer and 6.2% on employee) on Social Security payroll taxes alone, plus the 2.9% on Medicare taxes, for a total federal tax rate of 54%.

In addition, Obama wants to jack up the capital-gains tax rate and reinstate the death tax.

Echoing his father, he argues that the government should impose "tax laws that restore some balance to the distribution of the nation's wealth."

And likewise, he asserts that the nation's wealth ought to be rechanneled by government into "investments" in the economy and welfare programs that create "a new American social compact."

"We can only compete if our government makes the investments that give us a fighting chance" in the global economy, the Democrat presidential hopeful said in his 2006 book, "The Audacity of Hope." "And if we know that our families have some net beneath which they cannot fall."

"Training must be expanded," his father proposed as one of his government "investments." Likewise, Sen. Obama wants to "invest" billions more in federal jobs retraining.

His father's critique of Kenya's economic policy was published in the East Africa Journal under the title "Problems Facing Our Socialism." One discovers — after reading just a few pages into his eight-page tract, where he waxes quixotic about "communal ownership of major means of production" — that he wasn't criticizing the government for being too socialistic, but not socialistic enough.

Obama Sr. described his own economic plan, his counterproposal, as it were, as "scientific socialism — inter alia — communism." Yes, Obama's father was a communist who wanted to put socialist theory into action — by "force."

He trusted the collective over the individual, a theme he successfully instilled in his son, also Harvard-educated, with whom he visited once for a full month in Hawaii, even speaking to his prep school class. He kept up correspondence with his son through his college years.

(Media accounts portray Obama's father as being completely out of his life after leaving his mother and him at age 2. But Obama's first book, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that he remained an influential force in his life. Obama's first autobiography was devoted to "my father.")

Listen to what "the Old Man," as Obama and his siblings called him, wrote in proposing government-run farms: "If left to the individual, consolidation will take a long time to come. We have to look at priorities in terms of what is good for society, and on this basis we may find it necessary to force people to do things they would not do otherwise."

He explained that "the government should restrict the size of farms that can be owned by one individual throughout the country."

More evil than individuals, Obama's father believed, are heads of corporations. More evil still are the bankers and investors, who conspire to control the world through their evil capitalist system.

"One who has read Marx cannot fail to see that corporations are not only what Marx referred to as the advanced stage of capitalism," he wrote. "But Marx even called it finance capitalism by which a few would control the finances of so many, and through this, have not only economic power but political power as well."

It's clear from Sen. Obama's own writings and speeches that he too is no fan of business or our system of "chaotic and unforgiving capitalism," as he wrote in "Audacity." He's fond of bashing Wall Street "greed" and the post-Reagan rise of individual investing over government investing. He wants to roll back the "Ownership Society." He resents the profit motive and individuals "on the make."

"Rather than vilify the rich," he laments, "we hold them up as role models, and our mythology is steeped in stories of men on the make."

This is no small point. The man who wants to be the nation's CEO actually believes we're living in a feudal society where the rich plunder the poor. And he thinks they should not only be vilified but punished.

"The problems of poverty and racism, the uninsured and the unemployed are rooted in the desire among those at the top of the social ladder to maintain their wealth and status whatever the cost," he wrote. "Solving these problems will require changes in government policy."

That is, massive taxation, among other things (or "inter alia," as his "brilliant" father would say).

Obama wrote in "Dreams From My Father" that he was trying to impress his father by taking a low-paying job organizing and agitating in the Chicago ghetto right out of college. "I did feel that there was something to prove to my father," he said.

Yet, suspiciously, he does not once mention his father's communist leanings in an entire book dedicated to his memory. No doubt he wanted to keep that hidden. All he tells readers is that his father was pushed out of the Kenyatta administration. He does not explain why.

"Word got back to Kenyatta that the Old Man was a troublemaker and he was called in to see the president," Obama wrote, quoting his half-sister, "because he could not keep his mouth shut." About what, we aren't told.

However, Obama writes sympathetically of a comrade of his father, Oginga Odinga, who stepped down as vice president and tried to start his own party. He too was angry that President Kenyatta was letting private investors buy up businesses and land "that should be redistributed to the people," Obama said.

By 1967, two years after Obama Sr. penned his paper, Odinga had been placed under house arrest for holding a rally that turned into a riot.

Like Obama's father, Odinga was a member of the Luo tribe of Kenya. His son, Raila Odinga, ran for president in 2006. That year, Obama traveled to Kenya and appeared with Odinga at rallies where he criticized the pro-U.S. government Odinga wanted to oust.

When he lost the election the next year, despite Obama's tacit endorsement, angry Odinga supporters crying fraud sparked riots that resulted in some 1,500 deaths. Amid his ancestral country's civil unrest, Obama took time out from the campaign trail to phone Odinga to voice his support.

After weeks of violence, Odinga was granted a power-sharing deal. He's now acting prime minister.

He's also a something of a communist like his father. An East German-trained engineer, he named his oldest son after Fidel Castro. Paralleling him, Sen. Obama wants to open dialogue with Cuba and once proposed lifting the trade embargo.

The two sons have much in common. However, the son who would lead the U.S. learned from his father's mistakes and keeps his "mouth shut." Obama learned that revealing his real beliefs can jeopardize his quest for the power needed to put his "redistribution" plans into action.

Secret Yearly Bilderberg meeting in MAY, 2009 in GREECE !

Go to the treasury departments web site. Here.

http://www.ustreas.gov/press/schedule.html

TIMMY BOY HAS HAD NOTHING ON HIS AGENDA SINCE WEDNESDAY. THE MEETING STARTED THURSDAY. He is in attendence in Greece this weekend.

Prove me wrong !! He is working on the NEW WORLD ORDER.

He attended last year along with Hillary and Obama when the two of them suddenly became missing for two days in June.

Secret Yearly Bilderberg meeting in MAY, 2009

Council on Foreign Relations and The Bilderberg Group.Don't talk about Geithner unless you draw out his membership in either organization, both of which are funded largely by Rockefeller wealth, with David being Chairman Emeritus of CFR and a cornerstone pillar of the Bilderbergs. And when the Bilderberg group met secretly for 3 days in Chantilly Virginia last may June during the heat of the primaries, you would be surprised as to who was on the attendee list. There was Bernanke, Paulson (then Treas. Sec) and Geithner (the soon-to-be Treas. Sec.) and even Summers pulled up a chair as well. Sounds like a INSIDER tea party to me.Here is the attendee list: http://illegalprotest.com/2008/06/08/list-of-bilderberg-2008-attendees-globalists-exposed/ . If the FBI wire tapped that meeting, a ton of felony charges under The Logan Act would fall into their lap. But since no one has ever been charged under that Act, there is no chance of the powerful international Bilderberg syndicate of ever being investigated even though they are destabilizing democracies around the globe. So, remember those two groups which are running the show in near and deep background and let the citizens know of their influence and existence.

List of Bilderberg 2008 Attendees - Globalists ExposedJune 8th, 2008 Here is a nice list of the globalist elites who are coming together to try to plan the global government which will involve having THEM as the royalty and the rest of the people of the world as a single class of peasants. They are not interested in preserving personal freedom. They are interested in securing their place among the elites so they get their piece of the pie and are not counted among the peasantry of the world. Their interests, no matter what country they hail from, are in maniuplating global politics, including our Presidential election. It is a known fact that every President in the last 20-30 years has been an attendee at Bilderberg. Anyone outside Bilderberg will never have a chance at securing one of the most powerful positions in the upcoming global government.
You will notice several names from large newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal. Why is it that the Wall Street Journal finds it appropriate to not give this meeting even a mention in their paper? Do you think they are participants in the world government coverup of this annual secret meeting of the global elites? This is not tinfoil hat stuff.. this is real.
Notice that Eric Schmidt from Google is there and so are several state governors (Kansas, South Carolina).. why only a few governors? Could it be that these two are being groomed for upcoming increasing leadership roles dictated by the Bilderberg elites?
Funny thing is.. I know that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were attendees but they are not on this list. So how many names were NOT on this list and why?

Some good commentary on Bilderberg 2008 here
A description of this secretive meeting between leaders of many countries from their “press release”
“The conference will deal mainly with a nuclear free world, cyber terrorism, Africa, Russia, finance, protectionism, U.S.-European Union relations, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Islam and Iran. Approximately 140 participants will attend, of whom about two-thirds come from Europe and the balance from North America,” the release stated. “About one-third is from government and politics, and two-thirds are from finance, industry, labor, education and communications. The meeting is private in order to encourage frank and open discussion.”
World Net Daily commentary on the Hillary/Obama secretive meeting that may have been at Bilderberg
Apparently these meeting attendees from the US are not aware of the Logan Act:
The Logan Act (18 U.S.C.A. § 953 [1948]) is a single federal statute making it a crime for a citizen to confer with foreign governments against the interests of the United States. Specifically, it prohibits citizens from negotiating with other nations on behalf of the United States without authorization.
Congress established the Logan Act in 1799, less than one year after passage of the ALIEN AND SEDITION ACTS, which authorized the arrest and deportation of ALIENS and prohibited written communication defamatory to the U.S. government. The 1799 act was named after Dr. George Logan. A prominent Republican and Quaker from Pennsylvania, Logan did not draft or introduce the legislation that bears his name, but was involved in the political climate that precipitated it.
And here is another link that should get your blood boiling as pertains to this secretive meeting in Chantilly this weekend.
A Portuguese newspaper has reported on something the American corporate media remains cowardly complicit about and dare not even mention - this week’s confab of nearly 200 of the world’s most influential powerbrokers in Chantilly Virginia for the 2008 Bilderberg Group meeting.
The Sol newspaper carries a story today concerning two of the Portuguese attendees of this year’s conference, the mayors of Lisbon and Porto - Antonio Costa and Rui Rio (pictured top).
Tellingly, the report highlights the fact that Bilderberg has kingmaker power in vetting future Prime Ministers and Presidents, noting how Pedro Santana Lopes and Jose Socrates attended the 2004 meeting in Stresa, Italy before both going on to become Prime Minster of Portugal.
In addition, the report underscores how both Costa and Rio have ambitions to lead their respective parties and potentially run for Prime Minister in the future.

Council on Foreign Relations and The Bilderberg Group.
Don't talk about Geithner unless you draw out his membership in either organization, both of which are funded largely by Rockefeller wealth, with David being Chairman Emeritus of CFR and a cornerstone pillar of the Bilderbergs.
Sounds like a INSIDER tea party to me.
Here is the attendee list: http://illegalprotest.com/2008/06/08/list-of-bilderberg-2008-attendees-globalists-exposed/ .

TIM GEITHNER WILL ATTEND BILDERBERG GROUP TO MEET THIS WEEK~MAY14-16, 2009 IN GREECE

Geithner To Take Orders From Global Elite At Bilderberg , His schedule is mysteriously empty these next few days. HMMMM !

World Bank President Robert Zoellick, who recently called for global government, will also take his place at elitist confab

Thursday, May 14, 2009

According to a London Times report, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will probably be in attendance at this week’s Bilderberg Group meeting, as top globalists meet to plot the financial future of the planet behind closed doors.

The Times article notes that “US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner’s public schedule is mysteriously empty for the next two days,” speculating that he will be in Vouliagmeni, Greece for the annual elitist confab, following in the footsteps of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who attended last year’s conference in Washington DC just months before the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the start of the economic crisis.

Geithner, who has overseen Obama’s bailout agenda since taking over from Hank Paulson, is the perfect stooge to implement the global financial regulatory systems that elitists have called for in the aftermath of the financial downturn.

Back in March, Geithner publicly stated that there were no plans to move towards a global currency to supplant the dollar, and yet at a private CFR meeting he assured his fellow globalists that he was “open” to the notion of a new global currency system.

Geithner’s presence at Bilderberg is noteworthy, not only because Bernanke attended immediately before the economic crisis last year, but also because Bilderberg’s agenda for 2009 is heavily weighted towards the financial crisis. According to a pre-meeting booklet handed out to members that was leaked to investigative journalist Daniel Estulin, “Bilderberg is divided on whether to put into motion, “Either a prolonged, agonizing depression that dooms the world to decades of stagnation, decline and poverty … or an intense-but-shorter depression that paves the way for a new sustainable economic world order, with less sovereignty but more efficiency.”

The Times also reports that World Bank President Robert Zoellick, “Will be in Athens on unspecified business on May 14,” meaning it’s almost certain that he too will attend Bilderberg, as numerous past World Bank chiefs have done in previous years.

During a speech which preceded this year’s G8 summit, Zoellick openly admitted Bilderberg’s plan to eliminate national sovereignty and impose a global government via the imposition of worldwide financial regulatory powers.

Speaking about the agenda to increase not just funding but power for international organizations on the back of the financial crisis, Zoellick stated, “If leaders are serious about creating new global responsibilities or governance, let them start by modernising multilateralism to empower the WTO, the IMF, and the World Bank Group to monitor national policies.”

“To say we were striving for a one-world government is exaggerated, but not wholly unfair,” top Bilderberg member Lord Healey once told author Jon Ronson, adding that Bilderberg members thought “A single community throughout the world would be a good thing.”

As we have previously highlighted, the European Union was a creation of Bilderberg founding members, aided by top Nazi economists such as Hermann Abs, Hitler’s top banker and a man described by Bilderberg luminary David Rockefeller as “the greatest banker of the 20th century”.

In addition to Geithner’s probable attendance, US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg is using the pretext of an obscure meeting with Greek officials, the first time a member of the Obama administration has done so, to take his place at Bilderberg.

According to Greek newspaper Kathimerini, “Steinberg will be in Athens for a meeting of the international invitation-only club, the Bilderberg Group, which begins today MAY 14, and runs until Saturday, MAY 16, 2009.”

Whether Lucifer will be down there on the sun-loungers remains to be seen. But what we have been able to establish from a World Bank spokesman, Alexis O’Brien, is that the organisation’s president, Robert Zoellick, will be in Athens on unspecified business on May 14. And that US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner’s public schedule is mysteriously empty for the next two days. Jo Ackermann, head of Deutsche Bank, will be travelling “somewhere in Europe”. Jean-Claude Trichet, head of the European Central Bank, will not be around until the end of the week.

You get the drift. Something is going on. If only somebody would let us in on the secret.

Meet the men (and women) behind the curtain: Bilderberg
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Also a massive violation of the Logan Act, since top American elected politicians always attend. You can bet Bernanke is there; McCain and Obama were at last year's conference. So was Hillary. These are the people who rule America and the world. They created the EU and they are behind the North American Union.
Don’t tell anyone, don’t breathe a word, but the world’s most powerful men are meeting secretly again to save the planet from economic catastrophe. Oh, and their address, should you want to send them your opinions, is: c/o Nafsika Astir Palace Hotel, Apollonos Avenue 40, 16671 Vouliagmeni, Greece.

Bed space is a bit tight there for the next two days while the Bilderberg illuminati hold their private conclave in the five-star Greek hotel. Every year since 1954 a club of about 130 senior or up-and-coming politicians gather at the fireside of a secluded hotel with top bankers and a sprinkling of royalty to discuss burning issues, to trade confidences and just stay abreast of the I-know-something-you-don’t-know circuit. No lists of participants are disclosed, no press conferences are held; spill the beans and you’re out of the magic circle.

For those of us standing outside the locked gates all that is left is to hope that they will sleep well, avoid jet ski injury and solve our problems for us. For the Bilderbergers it is a little like that recent MI5 recruitment ad: “See all your best work go unnoticed!”

Each country delegates two people to the steering committee that is the intellectual hub of Bilderberg. In the past Kenneth Clarke, the Shadow Business Secretary, and Martin Taylor, formerly head of Barclays Bank, have had their hand on the British tiller.

This year the club is going to talk about depression. “According to the pre-meeting booklet sent out to attendees, Bilderberg is looking at two options,” says the Bilderberg-watcher Daniel Estulin — “either a prolonged, agonising depression that dooms the world to decades of stagnation, decline and poverty — or an intense but shorter depression that paves the way for a new sustainable economic world order, with less sovereignty but more efficiency.”

Since Bilderberg does not officially exist, it cannot deny anything and is therefore manna from heaven for the conspiracy theorist. Eurosceptics are convinced that the future development of the European Union was plotted here — EU commissioners have always been welcomed into the coven, with Peter “We are intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich” Mandelson a particular favourite. Margaret Thatcher, it is said, was a shy debutante at a Bilderberg meeting in 1975.

Jim Tucker, veteran stalker of the Bilderberg club meetings, claims that Mrs Thatcher was ordered “to dismantle British sovereignty, but she said, ‘no way’, so they had her sacked”. Left-wing conspiracy theorists believe that Bilderbergers form a capitalist nucleus, and there is a germ of truth in this. The meetings were started in the Netherlands, in the Hotel de Bilderberg, near Arnhem, by the Polish exile Joseph Retinger. He was worried about growing anti-Americanism and the advance of Communism in Western Europe. Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands agreed to sponsor the idea, the head of the Central Intelligence Agency, Walter Bedell Smith, threw his weight behind it and so did the White House.

The Bilderberg consensus is that national problems are best solved by an internationally oriented elite, that a global network of decision-makers should have a common language and that the boundaries are fluid between the monied and the political classes.
And so there has been a natural bias towards inviting conservatives and market liberals. The only socialists invited are those who “understand money”.

Ed Balls has taken part and the most indiscreet Bilderberger of all time was Denis Healey, the former Labour Chancellor and fierce Atlanticist.

“To say we were striving for a one-world government is exaggerated, but not wholly unfair,” Lord Healey told the author Jon Ronson for his book Them: Adventures with Extremists. “Those of us in Bilderberg felt we couldn’t go on for ever fighting one another for nothing. So we felt that a single community throughout the world would be a good thing."

Another way of viewing the club is that of Metropolitan Seraphim, the bishop of Piraeus, who said that the Bilderbergers represented a “criminal cabal of world Zionism and its efforts to set up a cruel world dictatorship under the headship of Lucifer”. This line is quite common on the blogosphere, where the club’s secrecy is taken as evidence of evil intentions.

Bilderberg Group Meets In Athens Amid Tight Security

ATHENS (AFP)--Some of the world's top business and political leaders started annual secret talks with the Bilderberg group Thursday in a suburb of Athens, under tight security control.

The surroundings of the Astir Palace, a luxury hotel in the suburban resort of Vouliagmeni, where the group is holding its annual meeting, were protected by dozens of policemen, who were keeping the press and public at bay, an AFP journalist said.

A Greek navy launch and boats carrying elite divers could be seen a few meters off the coast of the peninsula where the hotel stands. Greek newspapers said the group had also asked for the protection of two F-16 warplanes and a police helicopter.

Reports say U.S. State Department number two James Steinberg, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, World Bank President Robert Zoellick, European Commission head Jose Manuel Barroso, Queen Sofia of Spain and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands are among those attending the Bilderberg meeting.

The group, which has been holding annual off-the record talks open to guests only since 1954, feeds conspiracy theories and speculation about its intentions, with critics accusing it of plotting world domination.

Several sources say Polish political adviser Joseph Retinger, former Belgian prime minister Paul van Zeeland and former Unilever chief executive Paul Rijkens organized the first meeting at the Hotel Bilderberg in the Netherlands to unite European and U.S. elites amid growing transatlantic tensions a half-century ago.

Its success spawned similar talks at posh hotels and palaces in Europe, the U.S. and Canada each year since

Google CEO In Attendance At Bilderberg 2009?

Progenitor of “don’t be evil” slogan apparently doesn’t think it’s evil to take orders from a shadowy undemocratic power elite meeting in secret to plot the future of the world around their own self-serving interests

One notable attendee at last year’s Bilderberg Group meeting amidst the gaggle of old industrialists, bankers and aspiring globalist politicians was Google CEO Eric Schmidt, one of the progenitors of the company’s slogan “Don’t Be Evil”.

Apparently, Schmidt doesn’t consider it evil to take his orders from the most undemocratic, crony and secretive organization on the planet.

Whether Schmidt makes his way to the 2009 elitist gathering at the Nafsika Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni Greece remains to be seen, but a Google representative is likely to take his place if Schmidt can’t make it.

As noted by a Haaretz report today, Schmidt took his place at last year’s Washington DC confab alongside people like Henry Kissinger, Condoleezza Rice and World Bank President Robert Zoellick.

In one of the more balanced reports concerning the meeting so far, the Haaretz article states, “Mainstream press coverage of the Bilderberg meeting has grown, largely due to the internet. This year’s conference may have been covered by British broadsheets, but don’t expect to see any coverage from U.S. news outlets such as The Wall Street Journal or the Washington Post - they will most likely be at the conference.”

No corporate U.S. news outlet has dared report on Bilderberg 2009 thus far. After all, over a hundred global powerbrokers, including the titans of government, industry, banking and the media, meeting in secret behind closed doors to plan the fate of the world really has no importance whatsoever in comparison with finding out “who got axed from American Idol,” - does it?
