Tea Parties All over AMERICA, MORE TO COME

Although Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are often named in the same breath, they are actually different people. Limbaugh is a conservative flame-thrower, Beck his libertarian counterpart, and O’Reilly? Well, O’Reilly is a conservative, clearly, but he is far more reasonable than the other two.

Below the fold follow two videos of the man speaking about yesterday’s tea parties and politicians’ refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes. His approach to them is, I believe, correct and healthy. He basically argued that tea parties are part of a nation-wide debate about the role, responsibilities and powers of the federal government. Many Americans may actually favor a bigger government than libertarians and fiscal conservatives do. That’s OK. But let there be a major debate about it nonetheless. Good policies are created by passionate, rational debate, not by alienating those who disagree with ‘the majority.’

I would like to add just one thing to that: O’Reilly seems to forget that Obama won in part because he promised “95%” of Americans “a tax cut.” He learned the lesson Ronald Reagan taught ambitious politicians: whatever you do, promise voters you’ll cut taxes for them if you win. That is, frankly, not the sign of a Social Democratic or ‘big-government’ country.

The second video is, I believe, stellar. He goes after Barney Frank for failing to take responsibility for the financial crisis - which did happen “under his watch” - but he does not stop there. He also criticizes Republicans - President George W. Bush for instance - and says that this is, ironically, a bipartisan problem.

And he is right. It is.

"QUICK" TAKE AMERICA BACK WHILE OBAMA IS OUT OF THE COUNTRY

DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN THE ASS WHEN YOU LEAVE. By the way just stay over there and don't come back. You are not wanted here anyway.

http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/ggraham/2009/03/31/quick-while-he%e2%80%99s-outta-the-country-let%e2%80%99s-change-it-back-to-%e2%80%98america%e2%80%99/
Quick!!! While He’s Outta the Country, Let’s Change it Back to ‘America’!!!!!!!
by Gary Graham

The Prez (that one)has flown to England and there’s only one thing to do while he’s gone: Let’s get our country back. Okay, it’s not going to be easy, there are a lot of hurdles. I’m pretty sure I can take Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer, Maxine Waters, and that puffball press secretary Gibbs. Multiple adversary bash-a-thon!!! Hai-Yah!!

Barney Frank I ain’t touchin’… I’m not a homophobe; I simply suffer from an irrational childhood fear of Elmer Fudd.
And Nancy Pelosi? I’m sending my friend Andrew Breitbart in to cross-check her hard into the glass. (I know he’s been dyin’ to get the go-ahead.) I am certain that if I confronted her, she would hit me with that death ray from those Neutronium eyeballs of hers…the same ones that hypnotize the Washington press corps into not busting up every time she opens her mouth.

But seriously, folks. I don’t know why anyone’s surprised. Obama for two years told us what he’s all about. Made it clear as day. And everyone just sort of…looked the other way. ”Oh, he’s not a socialist! He’s just saying those things to keep the far left loonies happy. You watch, he’ll govern from the center.”
Oh really? Well, it’s been only two months and let’s take a look at what he’s done. (Everybody follow along, and please feel free to add anything I’m missing.)

Mr. Obama took Mr. Bush’s bad idea of hundred-billion dollar bailouts and ran with it - on steroids. When Bush’s bailout did nothing to revive the ailing economy, did our new president say, “Wait, that doesn’t work - let’s try something else.”
Uh…no. Instead he figured that because having taxpayers borrow hundreds of billions of dollars from Communist China and handing it over to banks, insurance companies and auto giants to ‘stimulate’ economic activity didn’t do any of that…why he should just go ahead and quadruple the amount and try again! That outta do it!
Then, more than half of his cabinet appointees turn out to be either tax cheats or plagued with scandal. (The same people who are hell-bent to raise our taxes and ‘keep us honest’.)
Obama goes on You Tube and does a touchy-feely Neville Chamberlain appeasement stance with Iran’s Ahmadinejad, a man from a culture who views such behavior as weak and womanly (sorry - it’s actually an insult to women to call Barry womanly; my wife could kick his ass), doing a pathetic Rodney King “C-c-can we…can we just get along?” with the Iranian psychopath.

Then, his choice for Treasury Secretary, the one man, apparently, uniquely suited to fix the ailing economy, Tim Geithner, lays out plans to regulate all of American business; and in effect, give the Obama administration carte blanche power to inject it’s will directly into any private business it deems necessary, and for any reason whatsoever.

So…let’s get this into perspective. The guys from government, the people who can’t make the post office run well, the folks who have never owned a business themselves…are now going to oversee, regulate, and in essence meddle with the mainspring of American progress - private businesses.

Just yesterday, Mr. Obama took that little power adjustment for a spin - and promptly fired the head of General Motors. Did he consult with the stockholders in a hastily constructed shareholders’ meeting? Take a vote? Ask for comments? Show of hands?
No.
Too bad the phrase “a confederacy of dunces” is already taken, or I’d be tempted to use it here.
But …we’re told by the press there’s a “crisis of unprecedented proportion”, one that “the markets can’t fix.” And my fav… “only the Federal government can fix this crisis.” Reminds me of Ronald Reagan’s nine most terrifying words in the English language, “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.” (Also - Jackie Chan getting his ass kicked in Shanghi Noon, and Owen Wilson, trying to help, making it worse, and Chan shouts, “Stop helping me!!”) That’s what the American taxpayer is feeling like screaming right now - “Stop helping me!!!!!!”

Obama is a typical Big Government Goon. The typical BGG has a standard way of dealing with problems. (And make no mistake, any sort of problem, once it can be stretched and twisted into the concept of being a ‘crisis’, represents one thing, and one thing only: An opportunity to control, for the ultimate goal to gain personal Power.)

Yes, we underestimated his ambition. We didn’t think he’d really do all the things he said he was going to do. (well…in our defense, nothing he said he was going to do was very specific. Mostly generalities about hope and ‘change’…yeah, close Gitmo…get us out of Iraq…no time limits, but yeah, that was specific.) But he really meant it that he was going to change this country. Just… no one actually believed he meant he was going to change this country into something completely unrecognizable from anything we’ve ever known. (At least those of us who have never lived behind the Iron Curtain, or known the horrors of a despotic dictatorship.)

But look at who Obama’s mentors have been all his life - A Black liberation theologist, Reverend Wright… two avowed Marxists, Saul Alinsky and Noam Chomsky… and an unrepentant terrorist bomber, Bill Ayers. Obama came up through the ranks of the Chicago political system, the most corrupt group of hacks, con artists and extortionists in the country. And rather than learning the American dream in the business community, Obama learned how to intimidate, manipulate, and scam the system as a ‘Community Organizer’. (This term, for reasons unclear to this columnist, seems to hold some sort of nobility, carrying with it a misplaced virtue that is the substance of…smoke. And mirrors.)

So, the good B. Hussein Obama organized within the communities. But, organized them…to do what exactly? Find funds. Get money. Guilt various businesses and branches of government to yield to white guilt and cough up some dough. And thus, noble and honorable organizations such as ACORN come into existence. Strong-arming and intimidation raised to an art form.

But I think Barry is not content. As arrogant and audacious as he’s already proven to be, I believe we ain’t seen nuthin’ yet, sports fans. No…just as we underestimated the amount of damage he wished to inflict (I’m sorry - social engineering and progress) upon our Constitution, our traditions, our entire American way of life…there’s more to come.
And it’s not going to be pretty.

We apparently are in the most catastrophic economic crisis ever in the history of mankind. But ya know? I drove on the freeway this morning and it was pretty full. People driving their clean, shiny cars off to work. Dressed nicely, smiling, going about their day. I saw people shopping in the stores. They’re going out to dinner. They’re ordering online. Commerce is happening. I do not see hundreds of people begging in the streets. I have not heard about a single food riot. No cardboard box cities sprouting up. Door-to-door begging? Lawlessness in the streets? Okay, so it’s a little harder to borrow money, a little harder to refinance your house, or get a loan to buy a new car.
So what??
Does this ‘crisis’ justify transforming the most successful nation in the history of mankind into some socialist Euro-trash model of twisted central-authority collectivist oligarchy??
My fellow Americans…all I can say now is…
Quick! Before he gets back. Let’s do it! We’ve only got eight days. He’s going on a five-country Apology Tour, meeting with countries upset over 1) the Iraq War, and 2) treatment of enemy combatants at Gitmo. He’s got a lot of groveling and appeasing to do, but he’s coming back in just over a week, so we’ve got to act fast! He’s already screwed this nation up almost beyond recognition, and it won’t be easy. We’ve got to restore our country so that Liberty, not government is the predominant force. We must re-institute Capitalism as the primary engine of Freedom, and put government back into its proper role - an institution that works for us, not against us.

Breitbart — Hit Pelosi high, she’ll go down like bag of used condoms. And don’t worry about Barney Frank…I think Lou Ferrigno is going to go have a little ‘chat’ with him.

OBAMA'S National Enslavement Bill gets Senate's Rubber Stamps

THIS IS SCARRY.

Legislation passes to create multi-million civilian “army” in line with Obama’s compulsory national service agenda.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009
The Senate last night rubber stamped a nightmare domestic draft bill that legislates mandatory national service and creates an “army” of at least 7 million civilian enforcers working at the the behest of the government, while also containing language that threatens to ban free speech and the right to protest.
Last week, we reported on the House passage of the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, known as the GIVE Act, which was carried with a 321-105 margin vote.
A passage contained in section 6104 of the original House version entitled “Duties,” in subsection B6, states that a commission will be set up to investigate, “Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed.” This language has been dropped from the version passed by the Senate.
However, Section 120 of the bill discusses the “Youth Engagement Zone Program” and states that “service learning” will be “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.” This part remains in the version passed by the Senate.
Roles which will be staffed by members of the programs, labeled “Required National Service Corps,” include “criminal justice,” “environmental stewardship,” and “public safety”.
Aside from the programs aimed at college students and young people, others will be specifically targeted towards, “Retired and other former law enforcement, fire, rescue, and emergency personnel, and other individuals with backgrounds in disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery.”
The bill was rubber stamped by the Senate last night in a 74 to 14 motion, in what is described as a “procedural vote,” a move that creates “An army dispersed to help with education, health services and the environment, (which) would vastly enlarge the notion of “community organizing,” and allow, as Senator Barbara Mikulski, Democrat of Maryland, said tonight, for about 7 million people to be engaged in such work,” reports the New York Times.
The Senate will meet tomorrow morning to formally ratify the bill and finalize amendments. Call your Senator and demand that at least the mandatory language contained in this bill be removed.
References to the program as the creation of a civilian “army” have dominated mainstream news coverage of the legislation.
7 million members of this civilian “army” equates to about one member for every 50 Americans, a similar figure to the number of East Germans who collaborated with the Stasi and informed on their own citizens during the cold war.

The GIVE Act is just one of many pieces of legislation that vastly expand service organizations in line with Obama’s agenda to create a “national civilian security force”.
In January we also reported on the introduction by the Department of Defense of a “civilian expeditionary workforce” that will see American civilians trained and equipped to deploy overseas in support of worldwide military missions.
The DoD report states, “Management retains the authority to direct and assign civilian employees, either voluntarily, involuntarily, or on an unexpected basis to accomplish the DoD mission.”
Though the civilian expeditionary workforce program is restricted to DoD employees, similar programs have already been established for public sector workers.
One such program has seen hundreds of police, firefighters, paramedics and utility workers recently trained and dispatched as “Terrorism Liaison Officers” in Colorado, Arizona and California to watch for “suspicious activity” which is later fed into a secret government database.
Similar initiatives have been introduced in other western countries, including recently in the UK with the announcement that MI5 is currently training up to 60,000 UK citizens as part a civilian network of terrorist spotters, according to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and home secretary, Jacqui Smith.
In addition, Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, publicly stated his intention to help create “universal civil defense training” in 2006.
In an interview with Ben Smith of the New York Daily News, Emanuel outlined the agenda for military-style training, essentially a domestic draft, aimed at preparing Americans for a chemical or biological terrorist attack.
Asked by Smith about the universal service plan and whether people would have to live in military barracks, Emanuel laughed before responding, “We’re going to have universal civil defense training, somewhere between the ages of 18 to 25 you will do three months of training….but there can be nothing wrong with all Americans having a joint similar experience of what we call civil defense training or civil service in service of the country, in preparation, which will give people a sense of what it means to be an American.”
“It will be a common experience and we will be prepared, God forbid, God forbid that there is a chemical hit, another terrorist act or natural disaster becoming more frequent - there’ll be a body of citizens who are ready and capable and trained - that’s all you have to think about,” said Emanuel before smugly declaring, “We’re all here for you OK? It’s a circle of love.”
Asked if the training would be military style, with people wearing uniforms, Emanuel stated, “If you’re worried about are you going to have to do 50 jumping jacks the answer is yes,” adding that the service could be done through state national guard.
Shockingly, the GIVE legislation also contains language that could completely demolish the 1st amendment.
The 12th amendment to the act states, “Amendment to prohibit organizations from attempting to influence legislation; organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; and assist, promote, or deter union organizing.”
As Gary Wood writes, “Those in support of this legislation will argue this amendment is limited in scope and is not meant to interfere with the rights of citizens to protest, petition, boycott, or strike in resistance to government proposed laws. However, the people associated through service under the GIVE Act are considered volunteers, still free citizens, yet it will be unlawful for them to take part in any protests against any legislation. This is as close to a sedition act, a violation of 1st Amendment rights, as has been proposed in recent history. A basic right as a part of our natural, inalienable rights, is to resist government. Our founders not only knew it was a right but it was a responsibility. This legislation begins to break that down significantly.”
Fears about Obama’s plans to create involuntary servitude and domestic spy squads were first stoked in July 2008, when Obama told a rally in Colorado Springs, “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”
Despite denials that Obama plans to institute a mandatory program of national service, his original change.gov website stated that Americans would be “required” to complete “50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year”. The text was only later changed to state that Americans would be “encouraged” to undertake such programs.
Numerous other national service bills have been introduced which target everyone from schoolchildren to the elderly. They include the Service For All Ages Initiative, the Summer of Service Act, the Semester of Service Act, the Encore Service Act and the ACTION Act.
Regarding the GIVE Act, “The bill’s opponents — and there are only a few in Congress — say it could cram ideology down the throats of young “volunteers,” many of whom could be forced into service since the bill creates a “Congressional Commission on Civic Service,” reports Fox.
“We contribute our time and money under no government coercion on a scale the rest of the world doesn’t emulate and probably can’t imagine,” said Luke Sheahan, contributing editor for the Family Security Foundation. “The idea that government should order its people to perform acts of charity is contrary to the idea of charity and it removes the responsibility for charity from the people to the government, destroying private initiative.”
Lee Cary of the conservative American Thinker warns that Obama’s agenda is to, “tap into the already active volunteerism of millions of Americans and recruit them to become cogs in a gigantic government machine grinding out his social re-engineering agenda.”
The passage of such shocking legislation with barely a whimper from political activist groups goes to show how well the corporate media has performed in camouflaging the legislation with flowery characterizations of helpful volunteerism, when in reality the bill creates the pretext for mandatory national service and the creation of a multi-million man domestic civil defense unit who will be tasked with spying on their fellow Americans under the justification of protecting the country from terrorism.

PROZAC OBAMA IS NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL

This poor excuse for a President acts like a kid in a candy store.
How sad for America ! I can only pray we can keep her together for 4years. It sure would be nice if he resigned !

He was soooo wanting to go for a ride on Airforce One that he opted to use it to go to Virginia for a meeting the first week when a helicopter ride was the norm. Then he went off to Camp David at the end of his first week to spend Saturday night and check out the place and returned on Sunday. He had to fly out to Colorado to sign the first pork bill. Biden flew on airforce two. Talk about wasting taxpayers money...Then off to Arizona for something. Forgot what that was all about. Then it was off to Camp David again this past weekend and it goes on an on. He is a restless soul. MAYBE HE SHOULD BE PUT ON PROZAC. IMAGINE THAT !

And now they have Wednesday night parties at the Whitehouse every week and the first lady has to tell everyone to please not break anything in the white house. GUESS THEY REALLY GET DRUNK HUH ?

What a low class bunch of scumbags. I guess it takes all kinds.
We finally got one now that has no respect for the office at all and don't give a shit what anyone thinks while we pay for all this shit.

Voters' Obama Folly Coming Home to Roost

It's only been 7 weeks since the man whose resume fits nicely on the back of a postage stamp became the most powerful human being in the universe. As Presidents go, Barack Obama has proven at least one thing true: change is like the flip of a coin. Change can bring the best of times; change can bring the worst of times. And anyone over the age of twelve ought to have known that. Instead, 52% of the American electorate has run around like a bunch of howling ninnies for the past year chanting like a horde of Jim Jones' followers, who can't get enough of the poison kool-aid.

So much for progressive enlightenment.

With an economy in shambles, slinking toward all-out depression a little further each day, the President doesn't know the difference between a popularity-based political tracking poll and the confidence meter of the stock market, which represents the actual savings and pension funds of millions and millions of ordinary Americans. Heck, the golden boy of campaign one-liners doesn't even know that P/E ratio stands for price/earnings, not profit/earnings.

If only he had once had a paper route instead of all those pick-up games with the hoops.

That famed transition team -- the team that was given greater inside access than ever in history by a more-than-gracious out-going President, is about to go down as the most incompetent bunch of nincompoops ever produced by a university system. Those fancy degrees are evidently not worth the paper upon which they're printed.

In a time of mounting economic peril, even as the transition team dithered, one would have thought that fully staffing the Department of the Treasury would have been top priority. Not for this bunch. Timothy tax-cheat-TurboTax-challenged Geithner is a one-man Treasury Department and is so out of touch that he spent precious minutes in front of a Congressional panel scolding our own gas and oil companies for damaging the environment, even as a record 31.8 million Americans sign up for food stamps.

Earth to Tim: You won't get the Country out of this mess by slamming the companies that hire us so we won't need to be on the dole.

Is there a single business enterprise in America that this administration doesn't hate with a death wish?

Some of those folks now lining up to get food stamps and the like probably worked in the domestic tourist industries that have taken a whack from President Obama. Every time the President slams a trip by so-and-so from such-and-such company, real people lose the jobs they would have had providing services to these executives.

Las Vegas isn't known for anything but catering to out-of-towner, is it?

Evidently, a teleprompter attached to each of one's hips does not guarantee even a single gaffe-free moment. For all the rhetorical hit jobs perpetrated against Governor Sarah Palin, this woman got up and delivered one of the best speeches of this entire campaign with teleprompter glitches and a set of notes scribbled on by several others, all without so much as breaking a nail or missing a beat. President Obama's motto: have 2 teleprompters, will travel.

So much for Mr. Erudite.

When it comes to the very few jobs with which our federal government is actually commissioned by the U.S. Constitution, this Administration is coming up on empty every single day. While this President calls committee meeting after committee meeting (he calls them summits) for more well-educated nincompoops to sit around and B.S. their way through our domestic problems, our foreign policy is looking like the Keystone Cops high on M&Ms.

Foreign policy is actually in the Constitution; health, education and welfare are not.

President Obama has evidently decided that Israel and Great Britain are quite dispensable allies, but the Chinese, the Russians, the Iranians, the Syrians and Hamas are going to be our new best friends.

Obama dispatches Madame Secretary Clinton to the Chinese to beg them not to stop supporting our debt, but not to worry about those prickly human rights issues because we're not going to fret over those millions and millions of human beings kept under the brutal boot of communism any more. China answers with a wink and a nod and announces they're upping military spending by 15%. Several days later the Chinese surrounded one of our unarmed naval vessels as personnel charted the ocean floor and demand we leave international waters.

On the flip side, President Obama stuns the British and American publics with the most flagrant snubs between our two peoples since the Revolutionary War. First, foregoing the customary joint press conference with the flags and ceremony. Then the obvious denial of even a nice lunch for the Brit. Then the cake-taker of bad manners, a tacky, cheap gift in exchange for the exquisitely tasteful gifts from the British people. Their press is agog from it and declaring that the U.S. will be sorry for this. When President Obama sent back the bust of Churchill, given right after the 9/11 attacks, without so much as a note of explanation, perhaps the Brits should have known something sinister was afoot in the Oval Office.

Back to our newfound friends, President Obama moved swiftly after the Israelis' attempt to destroy rocket-launching sites in Gaza to offer $900 million in assistance to the Palestinians -- read Hamas. And Secretary Clinton made sure to take note of the damage done by those nasty Israelis while she toured the West Bank, taking the opportunity to publicly scold Israel (our heretofore friend), causing Israeli leaders to sneer, "She's not the Hillary we knew." Hillary was barely out of the region before Iran test fired a new long range missile and made certain to notify the Israelis that the new missiles are fully capable of hitting Israel's nuclear facilities.

Now, when are we going to get to see all that "smart power"?

Not with the Russians, apparently. When Mrs. Clinton made her "smart power" debut there last week, she carried a gimmicky little gadget, resembling the Staples "Easy Button." Only Mrs. Clinton's perfectly cutesy-pie idea was to inscribe the Russian word for "reset" on the button. Instead our State Department academic wiz kids put the Russian word for "overcharge" on the little button, making mincemeat of Hillary's "smart power" before she even got out of the gate.

Meanwhile, the Russians guffawed at President Obama's offer to trade missile defense systems in Eastern Europe (he had already pre-announced his intention to scrap missile defense systems, remember?) for help with the Iranian nuclear "problem," saying "haggling" over such things is unproductive.

Shades of JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis are making my skin crawl.

The North Koreans are acting up a storm too, and blithely threatening South Korean civilian airliners, while they prepare to launch a far-reaching missile that they're calling a "satellite." As if that weren't enough, the North Koreans are also brazenly uttering war threats - not asking to come to the negotiating table where all the "smart power" folks are in charge now.

Not to worry, though, because as Gallup, Rasmussen and Zogby remind us every day, this President is still one popular, cool dude to the 52% who drank his kool-aid from the campaign trail -- plus a few Americans who probably didn't even vote but love to talk to pollsters on the tele. And as gloom and doom stalk every hardworking American, the Obamas party hardy, feasting on delicacies, toasting celebrities and stick us with the check.

Anyone in Obamaland ever hear of cognitive dissonance? Tar and feathers?

So, what will the campaign slogan of the other party be for 2012?

I'll have a whack at it.

Obama lied; hope died.

The Iranians got the A-bomb, the Russians got their jive back and the Chinese own everything.

Vote for the un-cool, work-experienced, good-without-a-teleprompter guy or gal who knows a friend from a foe and can add 2 + 2 and get 4 every single time.

Republicans should ban together and never give up ! Stay strong GOP !

An Excellent Read !
February 24, 2009
No Surrender
By J.R. Dunn
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/02/no_surrender.html

I'm curious -- does anyone know of any situation, current, historical, hypothetical, or otherwise, in which some American conservatives don't immediately start hollering that it's time to give in?
That's a serious question. It seems that whenever things get rough, the cry goes up: it's over. The left has won. It's not our country anymore. There's no hope, never has been, never will be again. And almost always, it comes from people who claim that they're the true nail-hard conservatives, the core element, of whom everyone else is merely a pale reflection.
With Obama, this chorus has become deafening. It's the counterpoint to the Obama-as-Messiah drone from points left. Obama is the watershed, the spearpoint of a seventy-year-long conspiracy against the Republic. With his advent, the game has ended. There is no possibility of resistance. All he needs to do is raise a hand and his disciples will fill the streets, waving the little green book of the One's Sayings and sweeping all before them. There's nothing to be done now but to pack a single small bag and await the summons to appear for "reformation through labor".
That or take to the woods with a cheap Kalashnikov knockoff and a knapsack full of canned baked beans.
It could happen just that way, I guess. But I have my doubts.
The argument (up until now unvoiced) appears to be that the country has been hollowed out by decades of liberal activity to a point where all that's all required is a single kick for it to fall apart. Every institution has been undermined, every principle eroded. The intelligentsia are traitors, the business world has sold out, the populace as a whole is dumb as a dishrag. There's nothing left worth saving even if it was possible to save it.
To say this is a one-sided vision is to insult one-sided visions. The first question we need to ask is: does this in fact resemble anything at all going on in the real world?
Thirty days into the Obamiate, we have seen that the man cannot put together a working cabinet. Four major figures have fallen by the wayside due to corruption of one form or another. A fifth -- O's major attempt at "bipartisanship"-- scrambled back ashore just before this Titanic set sail. O's successful nominees have been not quite what the situation demands either. Tim Geithner, the man who would pull a whole new economy out of his hat, is still looking for the hat. Eric Holder attempted to fulfill his duties as the nation's chief law enforcement official by inflaming long-buried hostile feelings between the races. (I wonder if Obama grasps that, on some level, this is a blow aimed against him personally, in his persona of the man who embodies racial reconciliation?)
His great "victory", the stimulus bill, succeeded in uniting the GOP in opposition, annoying members of his own party, dismaying the public, and sending the markets into a 300-point tailspin. Obama, and his followers, desperately need to contemplate the story of King Pyrrhus. A few days later, his banking proposal led to a repetition of the market collapse. But he succeeded in topping even that with his mortgage plan, which triggered, another market slide, nationwide defiance, and converted a little-known market commentator, Rick Santelli, into a focus of opposition. Nice work for a single week.
On the international front, he has triggered the disdain and contempt of Iran, Russia, and Venezuela among others. Mighty Kyrgyzstan has unceremoniously ejected U.S. forces. He has even succeeded in annoying the amiable Canadians prior to his visit to Ottawa. And to round that out, on Friday, February 20th, he for all practical purposes surrendered to the Taliban, a group sharing responsibility for the only successful attack on the mainland U.S. in modern times.
And this is the American Lenin, you say? The man who is going to overthrow the republic, trample the Constitution, and put the chains of socialism on a helpless, despairing populace?
What's bothering many conservatives today is a kind of institutional memory of the FDR epoch. Roosevelt truly did carry out a revolution in political affairs. His first "hundred days" did in fact turn the country upside down. Such efforts as ending the gold standard, closing the banks, and establishing the New Deal with its complete control over the economy, were unprecedented, in no way comparable to anything that had come before.
Of course, you don't fix a wounded economy by turning it upside down, a fact that became apparent in relatively short order. But even aside from the failure of the New Deal, FDR had a dramatic and lasting effect on the political landscape. Nowhere was this effect more apparent than with America's conservatives.
Most of the Republicans of the era were country-club Babbits -- go-along to get-along types who joined the GOP because Dad did. It comes as no surprise that these people had no solution to the country's economic problems, or could put up any worthwhile resistance to FDR's "reforms". They were swept aside, and little serious opposition ever confronted Roosevelt. The era's conservatives simply retreated to isolated pea patches while communicating only with each other. It took a generation for William F. Buckley to revive conservatism as a vital political and cultural force.
Even today, FDR remains a nightmare figure in the conservative mind. He's denounced in contemporary books (such as the asinine Day of Deceit of which I was given three copies by people convinced it was a worthwhile read, despite its being one of the most ill-researched and badly written historical works I've ever encountered) with the energy and venom you'd expect to be directed at a man who left office last week, and he's spoken of with a sense of fear and apprehension, as if he's right around the corner and will come rolling back any minute, to scatter all before him like the Steelers' offensive line.
But there is no third-millennial Roosevelt, only poor O, overwhelmed and getting in deeper every day. The Democrats are a gaggle of every-pol-for-himself hustlers of the Dodd, Rangel, Schumer, and Frank school, far from the unified, all-powerful party they were during the 30s. The progressive impulse is played out, a hollow ideology with no intellectual force behind it. The left-wing media is collapsing almost as quickly as the Madoff financial empire, from the venerable El Tiempos de Nuevo York to your local Democrat & Whatever. All that's keeping the mad whirl going is the adoration of the simpler members of the public, than which no more fickle force exists.
Compare this to today's conservatism. A GOP cleansed of its most egregious malefactors and unified as in a way unseen since the mid-90s. Consider only the leading names -- Sarah Palin, Eric Cantor, John Boehner, Bobby Jindal. A greater distinction from the nonentities of the 1930s GOP can scarcely be imagined. The unity of the House Republicans against the stimulus bill came as a surprise even to me, and was of a nature to bring cheer to a stone. The Senate was not quite as impressive, but that merely marks yet another of the RINO's offenses against intelligence, good sense, and common decency. (Has anyone ever considered the fact that "moderates" such as Spector, Snowe, and Collins are the among the least trustworthy of current politicians?)
In addition, there's something that was scarcely imaginable in the 30s, or even in the 60s -- a thriving and intellectually diverse conservative movement. A movement that has been through the fire, that has matured in both message and execution, and that remains underestimated by both its opposition and their media enablers. The modern conservative movement is even now moving into a new phase. It's impossible at this point to say exactly where it's going, but anyone wishing to write it off needs a little serious study.
Given the choice between this and a party headed by an intellectual juvenile who thinks he can disburse a trillion dollars one week and talk about "halving the deficit" the next, a party staffed with superannuated hustlers and grifters, with a rank and file comprised of mesmerized, glassy-eyed true believers, I know which one I'd pick.
The time may come when that choice will matter quite a lot. Obama has promised everybody everything. He will fail to bring any of it off, as Johnson and Carter failed before him. When he does fail, he will need to attempt something to shore up his base. He will move against the enemies of the people. He has several avenues open -- gun control, the "fairness doctrine", even euthanasia. Each will mark a fundamental attack on human rights and the American character that must be opposed and defeated. All hands will be required in this effort. There will be no excuse then for self-centered whining or skulking in the woods.
We will at that point have an opportunity to give the collectivist heresy a beating from which it will never completely recover. And if that isn't worth a battle, what is?
So lighten up. The story ain't over yet, and the fat lady hasn't even buckled on her armor. And when the song comes at last, it may well be a tune we like.
And besides -- I'll bet you left your can opener home.J.R. Dunn is consulting editor of American Thinker.

CHRIS DODD IS ANOTHER DAMN CROOK RUNNING OUR GOVERNMENT !

I am sickened that we have so much corruption in our government. We need another revolution and soon. This insanity going on needs to stop and stop now.

Dodd Took 850k From TARP Banks In 2008
The KC Tribune isn't happy with any politicians just now. But they elevate Dodd to the top of their list of usual suspects<---(click here) They think the pols that took TARP bank money in 08 should give it back. Dodd received $854,200 from banks in the TARP program. Yeah, there's a guy who should be regulating banks. But the Senior Senator from Connecticut who said he personally turned a four-page draft into 80-plus pages of legislation that was passed, has crossed an ethical line. While he was crafting legislation to rescue his friends, Dodd “received $854,200 from the T.A.R.P. companies in the 2008 election cycle, including money to his presidential campaign” according to a recent Center for Responsive Politics (CRP) report. I'm getting the sense this editor is rather miffed. But you can't argue with his points. But then Obama took in over $4 million from them. And as he seems to be the one driving all the change, I'm thinking they just might not have time enough to do that. In committee, Sen. Dodd, on behalf of the American public, chastises the Federal Reserve Bank, the Treasury Department, heads of Auto Corporations about scandals, executive bonus compensation, private jets, junkets for bailout banks to Vegas. Everyday it seems another financial institution C.E.O., is being dragged before the Senate and House Finance and Banking committees to explain themselves, with Dodd acting indignant. It is political theater at its most twisted and grotesque. President Barack Obama should show leadership and return millions of dollars in campaign contributions received from T.A.R.P. recipients or their employees. Candidate Obama received an estimated $4.3 million in contributions from them during his presidential campaign. But Obama’s campaign wasn’t the only one receiving campaign cash, as Republican candidates John McCain and Mitt Romney made the list as well as top House and Senate Republicans who chair important committees. “Some of the top recipients of contributions from companies receiving TARP money are the same members of Congress who chair committees charged with regulating the financial sector and overseeing the effectiveness of this unprecedented government program. They include Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut, chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs (he received $854,200 from the companies in the 2008 election cycle, including money to his presidential campaign) and Sen. Max Baucus of Montana, chair of the Senate Finance Committee (he received $279,000). blockquote>

Presidential News Conference: Obama Lies About the Pork
During tonight's Presidential News Conference President Obama told many lies, used deceptive techniques, and contradicted himself a number of times. One of the many lies was during the question and answer period when he proclaimed that his trillion dollar stimulus bill has no pork in it. He then clarifies himself by indicating there is not a single earmark in it.

This is how the Democrats work. Nearly 90% of this horrendous big government spending spree is pork - but the pork was written into the bill ahead of time, rather than having all of the Democrat's pet projects added later as earmarks, specifically so that they could proclaim it has no pork in it.

The bill stinks of pork - but as usual, the liberals played games so that they could say, "Well, technically it is not pork, because. . ."

Bullcrap is bullcrap, no matter how you present it, and when it comes to pork, this stimulus bill stinks to high heaven.

Obama, then, stood there and straight out lied to the American people in typical Democrat fashion.
