CNBC: We may be ‘bashing Obama a bit too much’April 17th, 2009

Unreal:

THE top suits and some of the on-air talent at CNBC were recently ordered to a top-secret meeting with General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt and NBC Universal President Jeff Zucker to discuss whether they’ve turned into the President Obama-bashing network.

“It was an intensive, three-hour dinner at 30 Rock which Zucker himself was behind,” a source familiar with the powwow told us. “There was a long discussion about whether CNBC has become too conservative and is beating up on Obama too much. There’s great concern that CNBC is now the anti-Obama network. The whole meeting was really kind of creepy.”

You’d think? Executives order a top-secret meeting in order to talk to reporters about what they perceive to be “Obama-bashing.” In a normal world, this would be called reporting. You know, journalists actually doing their job? But in today’s world, well, in today’s world being critical equals “bashing.” And bashing is bad.

On a more serious note: obviously, CNBC’s executives exaggerate a bit. A bit much. But it is logical that a news organization (or opinion for that matter) tries to keep its biases in check.

Isn’t it interesting that the ONLY time that a major media outlet has become concerned about bias is when that bias is anti-Democrat? Where was this outpouring of concern about balance and ethics during the grand Bush-bashing years?
